Ben H. Becker, co-founder of Becker Meisel LLC, co-chairs the Firm's bankruptcy, insolvency and creditors' rights practice group.

Mr. Becker has been practicing bankruptcy law for the past twenty-five years. During that time, he has represented Chapter 11 debtors, financial and other major institutions, creditors' committees, trustees, individual creditors and various other interested parties in bankruptcy proceedings in New Jersey, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and South Carolina. Prior to founding Becker Meisel LLC with Stacey Meisel, Mr. Becker was a member of the Firm of Schwartz, Tobia, Stanziale, Becker, Rosensweig & Sedita.

Among the clients that he has represented in the bankruptcy court are the three Trump Casinos in their Chapter 11 proceedings, Fleet Bank, Fleet Healthcare Finance Corporation, Hotel Ramada t/a Tropicana Casino & Hotel, IBJ Schroder Bank & Trust, North Jersey District Water Supply Commission, Alardi, Inc., Markson Rosenthal & Company, Inc., Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, LaSalle Bank, and numerous other corporations, financial institutions, entities and individuals involved in the bankruptcy process.

In addition to his expertise in the field of bankruptcy, Mr. Becker has litigated a number of employment related class actions including one of the largest age discrimination class actions ever filed in New Jersey, which made law in the United States Supreme Court on the formation of class actions under the Age Discrimination and Employment Act.

Recently, Mr. Becker was named one of 2008’s "Best Lawyers in America," which is based on peer review. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and its Bankruptcy Law Section and the Federal Bar Association. He has been a delegate from the Bankruptcy Law Section to the New Jersey State Bar Association and an officer of the Bankruptcy Law Section and has previously co-chaired the Annual Bench Bar Conference. In addition, Mr. Becker is often called upon to lecture on emerging issues in the area of bankruptcy such as the change in the Bankruptcy Code under the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act as it relates to commercial and residential real estate. Mr. Becker is also proud to have served as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court's District Ethics Committee.
