The Essex County Volunteer Lawyers for Justice Program (VLJ), a legal pro bono program that recruits private attorneys to handle legal matters of indigent clients, will honor Stacey Meisel of Montclair as a 2003 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year.

Meisel, a partner at Becker Meisel working in the area of bankruptcy, has handled six bankruptcy matters on behalf of VLJ clients. She will be honored at a recognition ceremony to take place on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Newark Club, beginning at 5:30.

The event will also include a silent auction/wine-tasting to benefit VLJ. Among the auction items are gift certificates to restaurants, weekend stays at hotels, spa packages, and autographed sports memorabilia.
