STACEY MEISEL, ESQ. SELECTED AS FORTY UNDER 40 HONOREE BY NJBIZ

 

A Self-Made Success, Meisel Has Quickly Risen to Top of Law

 

LIVINGSTON, N.J., Nov. 2, 2005 – Stacey Meisel, Esq., of Montclair, N.J., a founding partner of the law firm Becker Meisel LLC of Livingston, N.J., has been selected as a member of NJBIZ’s Class of 2005 Forty Under 40. NJBIZ gives the award to New Jersey’s outstanding business leaders under the age of 40, who have taken on decision-making roles at an earlier-than-usual stage in their lives.

 

A well-respected member of the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania Bars, Meisel co-founded Becker Meisel with Ben Becker at the age of 29. Now 17 lawyers strong, the firm has practice areas in bankruptcy, land development and real estate finance, construction law, civil litigation, health insurance litigation, automotive and corporate law as well as labor and employment law.

Meisel has specialized in bankruptcy law for 11 years. In 1997, she became the youngest-serving member of the Panel of Trustees for the District of New Jersey and has served as both Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 Trustee in numerous major bankruptcy cases administering operating and non-operating entities.

Meisel’s background is one of self-made success. During her childhood years, Meisel and her mother lived a nomadic lifestyle, often in poverty. She attended a different school each year from grades 5 through 12, and spent many a night sleeping between bar stools in local clubs while her mother worked the night shift.

 

“Our fortunes were up and down, usually very down back then,” noted Meisel. “My mother loves me dearly, she just didn’t focus on money and would rather give it away.”
