Employment Counseling and Employment Contracts

Becker Meisel’s wide-range of counseling services are aimed at helping clients to avoid liability for employment-related activities. Our counseling services include assistance in developing company policies and handbooks. Also, clients can count on us for assistance in anti-discrimination and anti-harassment training, implementing substance abuse testing, and other programs designed to aid and promote compliance with the broad range of state and federal laws. In particular, we have extensive experience with wage and hour matters, overtime and exempt status issues and matters related to the Occupational Safety and Health Act (“OSHA”).

In addition, our attorneys work with companies and key executives in negotiating and preparing employment agreements, compensation agreements, restrictive covenants including non-compete agreements, and separation and severance agreements. In this regard, our employment attorneys work with James McCarrick, Esq., one of the firm’s transactional attorneys, who has experience in preparing such agreements for Fortune 500 companies.

Recent experience of our employment counseling attorneys includes:

  • Representation of heavy and highway contractors in defending OSHA fines in excess of $300,000.  Our attorneys obtained favorable settlement with the government for the contractor.
  • Representation of an automobile dealership network in restructuring corporate human resources policies.
