LIVINGSTON - Steven Weinstein, Esq., partner with Becker Meisel LLC, will speak and serve as the moderator at Lorman's "Employee vs. Independent Contractor: Making the Distinction in New Jersey" seminar on Wednesday, January 16,2008. The event is being held at the Holiday Inn Philadelphia-Cherry Hill in Cherry Hill, N.J., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Human resource professionals, attorneys, controllers, accountants and business owners will benefit from this program. Weinstein, who is a member of Becker Meisel's labor and employment law group, possesses more than 30 years of experience representing management in labor and employment matters. In his lecture at this Lorman seminar, Weinstein will provide an overview of the New Jersey A-B-C Test and construction-related aspects of independent contractors. He will contrast the requirements of the State's A-B-C test with that of federal law including IRS guidelines. In addition, Weinstein will discuss issues relating to leased employees such as joint employer status, applicable discrimination and other employment laws as well as potential liability for benefits and overtime.
