RETIRED NJ SUPREME COURT JUSTICE DANIEL J. O'HERN SERVES AS PANEL SPEAKER AT NJICLE'S "APPELLATE ADVOCACY" SEMINAR


Little Silver Resident Now Focuses on Appellate Practice, Trial Practice, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Mediation at Becker Meisel LLC


LIVINGSTON, N.J., May 20, 2008 – Retired New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Daniel J. O'Hern, special counsel to the Livingston, N.J.-based Becker Meisel, recently served as a key speaker at the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education's (NJICLE) "Appellate Advocacy" seminar. O'Hern, who resides in Little Silver, N.J., has a rich history of public service at the municipal and state level including his 19 years on the Supreme Court.

At the seminar, O'Hern provided attendees with an overview of the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court including its discretionary review by grant of a Writ of Certification, as well as issues with respect to emergent applications and motions. He discussed his suggestions on how to succeed in appellate practice and what makes a case worthy of certification.

As special counsel to Becker Meisel, O'Hern concentrates on appellate practice, trial practice, alternative dispute resolution and mediation. In recognition of his longstanding dedication to the New Jersey legal system, he was honored with the 2007 Medal of Honor Award by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation (NJSBF) at the end of last year.
